Position Summary
The Project Engineer I supports Project Managers on
structural steel projects through document control, drawing and submittal
coordination, RFI processing, work-package release, and cross-functional
communication. The role maintains accurate project information in Tekla EPM,
Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and related systems while managing multiple
priorities and deadlines.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- The following duties are essential functions of the
position. The employee must be able to perform these duties with or without

- Coordinate with and assist assigned Project
Managers across multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
- Create and maintain project folders and
document-control records, including customer information, drawings, material
and cut lists, transmittals, and related files.
- Prepare submittals and create, process, and
monitor RFIs in coordination with the Project Manager; maintain current
status and supporting documentation.
- Create and release work packages in Tekla EPM
and process project drawings and material information in the system.
- Check drawings, prepare markups in Bluebeam,
identify discrepancies, and route questions or corrections to the appropriate
team.
- Coordinate with Customers, Detailers,
Production, Quality, Project Management, and Field crews to support project
handoffs and resolve document or coordination needs.
- Follow up with Quality, Project Management,
and Production on NCR dispositions and related documentation or actions.
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, and
other computer-based project tools.
- Ability to learn and use Tekla EPM, Bluebeam,
and basic CAD applications.
- Ability to organize and maintain project
documents and drawings accurately and consistently.
- Ability to communicate across departments,
prioritize concurrent assignments, and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with the structural steel or
construction industry.
- Experience with Tekla EPM/FabSuite, Bluebeam,
basic CAD, submittals, RFIs, work packages, or drawing control.

Physical Requirements

- Read and review electronic drawings, project
documents, technical information, and on-screen data.
- Occasionally stand and walk through office,
shop, or project areas when business needs require.
Work Environment and Safety-Sensitive Requirements
This position is primarily office and computer based, with
occasional entry into active fabrication shops or construction sites. When in
operational areas, the employee must follow required PPE, access, and safety
procedures and remain alert to equipment, material handling, hot work,
elevated work, and other hazards. Accurate drawings, work packages, RFIs, and
project communications can affect safe execution; where designated by MMI and
permitted by applicable law, this position may be treated as safety-sensitive.
