HR Manager – Smile Avenue Family Dentistry

Job Description

Smile Avenue Family Dentistry, a prominent multi-location dental group, is excited to announce an opening for a dedicated HR Manager. This opportunity involves central administration of human resources functions for multiple practice sites and our support office. As an HR Manager, you will manage the complete employee lifecycle including onboarding, documentation, benefits administration, payroll coordination, compliance, and HR event management. This position requires a hands-on, administrative approach focused primarily on execution and meticulous documentation, rather than strategic HR leadership.

Working closely with an external HR compliance partner for legal and regulatory guidance, you will ensure that our human resources operations are conducted efficiently and in accordance with legal standards. The role is based in our Support Office located in Cypress, TX and is not eligible for remote work, ensuring you are closely integrated with the team and daily operations.

  • Location: Support Office – Cypress, TX (on-site)
  • Compensation: $65,000 – $75,000 annually
  • Benefits: Dental insurance, PTO, paid holidays
  • Reports To: Regional Manager
  • Status: Full-Time

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process all onboarding and offboarding for 35–40+ employees across multiple locations.
  • Maintain complete, audit-ready employee files for every staff member.
  • Administer PTO tracking, benefits enrollment, and payroll coordination.
  • Track credential renewals for all clinical staff including licenses, radiology certifications, CPR/BLS, and DEA certifications.
  • Document every HR event and consult with our external HR compliance partner on proper handling.
  • Support the recruitment pipeline: screen applications, coordinate Culture Index surveys, and schedule interviews.
  • Maintain the employee handbook and ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws including the Texas Dental Practice Act, OSHA, HIPAA, FLSA, and Texas Payday Law.
  • Provide weekly time-clock reviews, monthly headcount and turnover reporting, and quarterly compliance audits.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2+ years of HR administration experience.
  • Working knowledge of employment law fundamentals such as FLSA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, I-9 processing, and at-will employment conditions.
  • Proven experience managing the employee lifecycle encompassing onboarding, benefits, payroll changes, and offboarding.
  • Meticulous documentation skills – adhering to the mantra, "if it isn't documented, it didn't happen."
  • Professional and confidential communication skills, comfortable handling sensitive information.
  • Ability to work self-directed from the support office without direct daily supervision.
  • Comfortable working and coordinating with an external HR compliance partner.
  • Dental or healthcare HR experience (preferred).
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification (preferred).
  • Experience in managing HR in a multi-location setting (preferred).
  • Experience with behavioral assessment tools like Culture Index (preferred).
