Summary: The Manufacturing Process Engineer designs and implements manufacturing processes for aerospace and defense components, breaking down engineering specifications into individual machining operations, working with 2D/3D prints and models, and documenting set-up sheets while keeping them accurate as changes arise. The role also involves researching and applying new technologies to boost manufacturing efficiency and product performance, selecting appropriate materials and technology for new processes, and communicating regularly with the Engineering Supervisor throughout the life of new projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop manufacturing processes, ensuring they meet technical specifications and industry standards.
  • Implement manufacturing processes, including selection of appropriate materials and technology.
  • Conduct research and apply new technologies to enhance manufacturing efficiency and product performance.
  • Break down engineering processes into individual operations to manufacture components for aerospace and defense industries.
  • Ability to analyze and utilize 2D and 3D prints and models.
  • Document set-up sheets and maintain accuracy as changes or improvements ae made.
  • Communicate with Engineering Supervisor while new projects are in process.

Qualifications

  • Degree in relevant engineering and/or 5+ years of Manufacturing Engineering required
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation
  • Experience working with tight tolerances 
  • Knowledge of machining aerospace materials (titanium, Inconel, aluminum alloys, stainless steel)
  • Machining experience a plus
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Mastercam, or other computer-aided drafting tools
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing environments
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (ITAR compliant)

 Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work performed in a clean, organized, controlled manufacturing setting
  • Exposure to machine shop environment (coolant, metal chips, noise)
