Smile Avenue Family Dentistry is thrilled to announce an open position for a Lead Insurance Specialist. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join our dynamic team. This full-time position offers the chance to engage deeply with all aspects of our dental revenue cycle, ensuring operational excellence and significant impact on our financial health. Please note, this job is not available for remote work and requires on-site presence at our facilities.

The role of the Lead Insurance Specialist is crucial for maintaining the financial backbone of our practice. You will be in charge of owning the entire revenue cycle process, from patient billing to optimizing and streamlining our revenue systems. Your work will directly contribute to the profitability and sustainability of Smile Avenue Family Dentistry, making it a position of both challenge and substantial rewards.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Full oversight of the dental revenue cycle: eligibility, estimates, claim submission, payment posting, AR follow-up, denials, and appeals.
  • Monitor and improve accounts receivable, focusing on reducing aging, and maximizing collections.
  • Identify trends in denials and underpayments and implement long-term solutions to mitigate these issues.
  • Ensure all claims are accurate, timely, and compliant with payer guidelines to maintain a high clean claim rate.
  • Track and enhance key dental KPIs such as AR days, clean claim rate, collection percentage, and denial rate.
  • Collaborate with front desk staff, clinical teams, and leadership to optimize workflows and improve the patient financial experience.
  • Train and support team members in dental billing best practices and ensure adherence to these protocols.
  • Develop and implement systems and structures that effectively scale with the growth of the practice.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in dental billing or dental revenue cycle management (RCM).
  • Strong knowledge of dental insurance plans, explanation of benefits (EOBs), accounts receivable (AR), denials, and appeals processes.
  • Proficiency in dental practice management software, such as Dentrix, Open Dental, Eaglesoft, etc.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to own outcomes.
  • Prior leadership or mentoring experience is highly desirable.
