Salary Range:  $55000 - $65000 year

The Radisson Suite Hotel Oceanfront is looking for a Chief Engineer / Maintenance Manager with strong leadership skills to manage all aspects of the property's upkeep and maintenance. Managing a team of engineers, the Chief Engineer will be assigning duties to member of the maintenance teams, creating long and short-term project goals, negotiate with suppliers, ensure that projects stay within schedule and cost constraints, and generate reports for the General Manager and Owners.

Chief Engineer Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Communicating the goals of the company to maintenance team
  • Calculating the overall time and cost of each job, including labor and materials costs
  • Assuring that projects are completed within their budgetary restrictions and on time
  • Having various members of their engineering team take on distinct roles
  • Supervising their employees’ training and following-up completion of daily assigned tasks
  • Supervising the equipment installation and reporting the outcome of install 
  • Performing product and system quality assurance inspections as needed 
  • Using conflict resolution techniques to settle disagreements among team members
  • Recognizing and thanking team members for their efforts, embracing a team mentality
  • Manages the building including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
  • Distributes preventive maintenance and repair work orders to team of maintenance technicians and monitors timeliness and quality of completion
  • Ensures regulatory compliance to facility regulations and safety standards
  • Develops specifications and requirements for service contracts and administers such contracts to support building needs
  • Oversees and directs the maintenance of grounds, guest rooms and public spaces
  • Comfort in building positive relationships with external customers such as city building/zoning department, fire prevention bureau and all vendors
  • Ensures staff has complete understanding of all procedures, equipment and alarms
  • Performs property inspection to ensure buildings and grounds are maintained in excellent condition
  • Conducts guest room and common area inspection to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Recommends or arranges for additional services such as painting, repair work, renovations, and the replacement of furnishings and equipment
  • Scheduling maintenance team members
  • Get quotes on new equipment / supplies and places orders once approved
  • Displays leadership in guest hospitality, exemplifying excellent customer service
  • Celebrates successes and publicly recognizes the contributions of team members
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Chief Engineer Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree/college coursework or 5+ years of relevant experience required
  • A minimum of four years of experience managing or overseeing a team is required.
  • An in-depth grasp of engineering fundamentals is required.
  • The capacity to keep a cheerful mood and boost a team’s morale.
  • The capacity to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
  • Interpersonal and communication abilities are exceptional.
  • The capacity to deal with unpleasant comments while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Working both on-site and in the office.
  • Must be available weekends and holidays
