Job Opening: Orthodontic Dental Assistant
Ridgeview Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics is excited to announce a position for a highly skilled Orthodontic Dental Assistant. We are seeking a passionate professional eager to join a dedicated team in providing exceptional dental care to our orthodontic patients. This full-time role is based in our state-of-the-art facility, where we create a friendly and supportive environment for both our staff and patients. Please note that this is an on-site position and cannot be performed remotely.
The successful candidate will be a central figure in our treatment rooms, assisting our orthodontist with precision and care. We value the comfort and safety of our patients above all, providing an atmosphere where families can be assured of receiving top-quality orthodontic care.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare examination and treatment areas by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready, clean and organized.
- Assist the orthodontist during a variety of treatment procedures, including but not limited to taking impressions, intraoral scanning, and fitting orthodontic appliances.
- Help manage patient records by keeping thorough and accurate treatment documentation.
- Provide patients and families with instructions regarding oral care strategies post-treatment and general orthodontic advice.
- Ensure the comfort of patients before, during, and after dental procedures.
- Conduct X-rays and other diagnostic assessments under the direction of the orthodontist.
- Maintain dental supplies inventory by checking stock and anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
- Adhere to infection-control policies and protocols by following guidelines of OSHA.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure a smooth workflow and efficient organization within the office.
- Attend and participate in meetings, training sessions, and seminars to improve skills and stay updated with the latest practices in orthodontic care.
- Assist in the scheduling of appointments to ensure efficient use of the doctor's time and a smooth patient flow within the office.
- Be actively involved in educating patients about orthodontic treatments and oral health care.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Orthodontic Dental Assistant or Dental Assistant with a strong interest in specializing in orthodontics; certification preferred.
- Solid understanding of orthodontic terms, practices, and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of managing sensitive situations with patients and families.
- Highly organized with attention to detail, and ability to multitask effectively.
- Familiarity with dental office software; experience with digital imaging and charting software is a plus.
- Current CPR certification.
- Dental X-ray certification as per state regulations.
- Ability to work comfortably under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

- Team player attitude, enthusiastic to work collaboratively in a growing and fun pediatric/orthodontic office.
