Medical Billing Supervisor
Location: Agave Pediatrics - Deer Valley (Occasional travel to other Agave Pediatrics office locations will be required.)
Reports To: Practice Manager
Supervises: 5–6 Medical Billing Team Members
Position Summary
Agave Pediatrics is a growing, multi-site pediatric medical practice serving families throughout Arizona. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Medical Billing Supervisor to lead our billing operations. This role oversees daily billing activities for general and specialty pediatric services, ensures accurate and timely revenue cycle performance, and drives process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce manual work.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, mentor, and support a team of 5–6 medical billing team members
- Oversee billing for general pediatrics and pediatric specialty services, including claims submission, payment posting, follow-up, and denial management
- Monitor accounts receivable (A/R), identify trends, and proactively address denials and underpayments
- Ensure compliance with payer requirements, regulatory standards, and internal policies
- Implement new solutions, tools, and workflows to optimize efficiency and reduce manual billing processes
- Collaborate with clinical, front office, and leadership teams across multiple sites to resolve billing issues
- Develop, maintain, and enforce billing policies, procedures, and training materials
- Track and report performance metrics such as A/R days, clean claim rates, and denial trends
- Serve as an escalation point for complex or high-risk billing issues
- Support audits, payer communications, system upgrades, and workflow changes
- Travel occasionally to other Agave Pediatrics locations to support billing operations and staff
Preferred Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of medical billing experience, including supervisory or lead responsibilities
- Experience billing for general and specialty pediatric services
- Experience working with eClinicalWorks (eCW) strongly preferred
- Demonstrated success implementing workflow improvements or automation solutions
- Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, payer requirements, and pediatric billing practices
- Experience with commercial insurance, Medicaid, and managed care plans
- Proven leadership, coaching, and team development skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, growing, multi-site practice environment
