Job Description

Ascension Counseling, Ltd., a specialized private practice with locations in Beachwood and Columbus, Ohio, is excited to announce an opening for a part-time position as an MFT/LPC, IMFT/LPCC, or IMFT-S/LPCC-S. This opportunity is geared towards clinicians dedicated to alleviating relationship distress and supporting individuals through trauma and disorders such as anxiety and depression. Our practitioners are integral to our mission of facilitating profound personal and relational growth through expert-driven therapeutic interventions.

This is an in-office position that requires a dynamic and compassionate professional who is prepared to engage with clients during prime hours, including four evenings per week and at least two Saturdays per month. The role involves working with couples, families, and individuals, encompassing approximately 15 billable hours per week. Applicants should be motivated, possess a high level of professional competence, particularly in working with children and/or adolescents, and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing learning, particularly in Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Gottman Method (Level 1 required).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual, couple, and family therapy sessions in a clinical setting.
  • Work closely with clients facing relationship distress, trauma, anxiety, and depression.
  • Develop and implement effective therapeutic interventions tailored to client needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards.
  • Document therapy sessions and client progress in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Engage in continued learning and professional development, especially in specialized therapy techniques for couples and trauma.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to clients.
  • Participate in supervision and consultation sessions as provided by the practice.
  • Provide competent therapy involving Emotionally Focused Techniques and Gottman Method principles.
  • Maintain licensure and complete all required continuing education units (CEUs).

Requirements

  • Current licensure in good standing to practice in Ohio (MFT, LPC, IMFT, LPCC, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrable experience and competence in working with children and/or adolescents.
  • Completion of Gottman Method Level 1 Training.
  • Training or certification in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples.
  • Ability to commit to evening and weekend sessions as required.
  • Proven track record of effective therapeutic intervention with individuals, couples, and families.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain professional demeanor and confidentiality at all times.
  • Willingness to participate in continued education and supervision.
  • Experience with specific trauma therapies such as EMDR or Prolonged Exposure Therapy is highly desirable.
