Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures.
- Set up and breakdown operatory post treatment.
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment.
- Provide patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling).
- Take dental radiographs (x-rays).
- Manage dental supply inventory and ensure adequate stocking of supplies.
- Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatment.
- Provide patients with follow-up appointments and dental care information post-treatment.
- Perform various office tasks as necessary.
- Ensure all health and safety regulations are strictly adhered to.
- Maintain dental records; accurately charting in patient records.
- Assist in the management of dental and medical emergencies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Dental Assistant certification from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 1-year experience as a dental assistant preferred.
- Strong understanding of dental instruments and standard dental procedures.
- Proficient in using dental software, ideally with experience in Dentrix.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an emphasis on patient-facing abilities.
- Current CPR certification.
- Current X-ray certification.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- A friendly, reassuring, and professional demeanor.
- Must be a team player and able to work efficiently with others.
- Knowledge of infection control and sterilization protocols.
- Experience in pediatric dentistry is highly advantageous but not mandatory.
- Coronal polishing certification is a plus.
