The Powhatan Club, a premier and exclusive member's club known for its outstanding service and luxurious atmosphere, is excited to announce an opening for a Bartender. This position is perfectly suited for individuals who have a passion for the art of mixology and providing exceptional service in an upscale social setting. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve beverages to club standards while adhering to legal guidelines concerning alcohol service.
  • Create a variety of specialty cocktails and drinks as requested by members or suggested by club trends.
  • Provide knowledgeable, respectful, and courteous service to all guests, enhancing their dining experience.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including handling of glasses, utensils, and bar equipment.
  • Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies.
  • Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of the club’s menu and promotions to inform and intrigue guests.
  • Operate the point-of-sale system with accuracies such as taking orders and processing payments.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Assist in the creation of menu items and drink selections, bringing creativity and innovation to our drink offerings.
  • Liaise with the culinary team to pair drinks with menu items, enhancing the overall dining experience.
  • Handle member preferences and feedback with professionalism and resolve any issues promptly and courteously.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a bartender, specifically in a fine dining or luxury setting.
  • Extensive knowledge of mixing, garnishing, and serving drinks.
  • Professional appearance and attitude, with an emphasis on member service orientation and ability to collaborate.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable with high-level member interactions.
  • Certification in bartending, mixology, or a relevant field is highly preferred.
  • Ability to stand and walk for an extended period during scheduled shifts.
  • Flexibility to work during evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the club’s schedule.
  • Capability to lift heavy objects and maneuver in a busy environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow within the hospitality industry, contributing positively to the club's reputation and member satisfaction.
  • High School Diploma required; further education in hospitality or related field is a plus.
