Dental Billing Specialist

Salary Range:  $18 - $24 hour



Compass Point Dental is excited to announce an opening for an in-house Dental Billing Specialist. We are a growing Family oriented Dental practice in Glendale. We accept the majority of PPO insurance plans as well as AHCCCS.  We need someone with a working knowledge of the dental environment and has experience submitting dental insurance claims. We truly care about providing quality care to our patients. We pride ourselves on being honest and conservative dental providers. We don’t push unnecessary treatment or engage in high pressure sales tactics which means we can’t afford to be taken advantage of. We need someone with the expertise and wit needed to keep our business profitable. 


Classification:      Nonexempt, Regular, “At Will” Work Status

Reports to:          Practice owner

Location:        Glendale Arizona (this is NOT a remote position)

Schedule:        Part-time flexible within normal hours of operation, 8am-5pm, Mon-Thurs


Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: 

Medical/Office setting

Low noise levels from telephones, computer, dental and other Lab equipment

Standing 25% - Sitting 75% of the time

Requires very little lifting. May need to regularly bend down, reach up or twist body to access documents or computer related equipment

May experience some eye strain due to frequent use of computer monitor and artificial lighting

As a Dental Billing Specialist, you will play a criticle role in a our practice's financial success by managing the billing and insurance processes.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with Practice owner and accounting agents to maintain accurate financial records and tax documentation.
  • Collecting, posting, and managing both patient and insurance payments.
  • Accurately preparing and submitting claims, ensuring we adhere to industry standards and regulations. 
  • Work effectively with and train dental team to ensure accurate billing codes and protocols are used to avoid unnecessary delays in or denial of payment.
  • Actively follow up on insurance claim denials, exceptions  and/or exclusions. 
  • Investigate reasons for claim denials and take corrective measures, including filing appeals when necessary.
  • Effectively communication with patients regarding their billing inquiries, explain charges, insurance payments, and balances.
  • Actively monitor and manage all Accounts Receivable by utilizing aging reports
  • Maintaining organized and accurate patient records and billing information, including documenting treatment plans and payment information. 

Requirements:

  • Familiarity with dental billing and coding practices, including current CDT and ICD-10 codes, is essential.
  • A solid understanding of dental insurance processes, claim submission, denial management, and different insurance plans.
  • Familiar and proficient with Dentrix. 
  • Must be well-organized and detail-oriented to handle large amounts patient information.
  • Strong communication and Interpersonal skills are necessary for interacting with patients, insurance companies, and dental team
  • Problem-Solving skills to address billing issues, denials, and payment discrepancies.
  • HIPAA training and compliance
  • High School Diploma or equivelant 
  • Must provide references associated with relevant work experiences
  • Employment offers will be contingent on favorable results of a background check and Drug test

Other success factors:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
