Urling Dental is excited to announce a new opening for a professional Dental Hygienist to join our dedicated team. This part-time position is open due to the maternity leave of one of our full-time hygienists, with the potential to develop into a permanent role. The role requires a commitment to work a minimum of 3 days a week, ideally 4, covering for a period of 8 weeks in January and February. This position offers a unique opportunity to integrate into a well-coordinated, drama-free team that thrives on a philosophy which benefits patients, team members, and the practice alike. We operate Monday through Thursday with desirable working hours, and there are no work commitments on Fridays. Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct initial dental assessments and prepare patient for dental hygiene treatment.
- Perform professional dental cleaning including scaling, root planning, debridement, polishing teeth, and preventative oral care.
- Apply preventive materials to the teeth such as sealants and fluorides.
- Assess patient oral hygiene and overall health, identifying areas of concern or improvement.
- Document dental history or chief complaints of patients and maintain accurate and detailed dental records.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques to maintain healthy teeth and gums and develop customized preventive maintenance programs for each patient.
- Perform dental x-rays and operate other diagnostic equipment adhering to established safety procedures.
- Maintain hygiene department supplies and ensure equipment is in optimal condition.
- Stay updated with advancements in the field and adhere to prescribed ethical practices and regulations.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute towards the continuous improvement of our dental services.
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited institution.
- Current dental hygienist license in the state or the ability to obtain licensure upon hire.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Dental Hygienist preferred.
- Proficiency in using dental software and x-ray machines.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to educate and motivate patients.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage a full schedule and maintain treatment records.
