Dental Assistant - Pediatric

Arizona Pediatric Dentistry & Ortho is looking for a Full-Time Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our Chandler office. Located near downtown Chandler, our practice has been serving the community for over 34 years, providing specialized dental care to children and adolescents. Our newly remodeled office is equipped with state-of-the-art dental technology — a fast-paced, friendly environment where every day is a little different and every smile matters. This is an in-office, hands-on position with a consistent Monday–Friday schedule — no temp-job unpredictability.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist the pediatric dentist chairside during a variety of treatment procedures
- Set up and break down operatories post-treatment; prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment (infection control)
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays)
- Prepare materials for dental impressions and restorations; take dental molds
- Provide patients and parents with post-treatment oral care instructions and educate patients on oral hygiene strategies
- Engage with children to provide a comfortable, soothing environment during their dental visits
- Chart and update patient records in Eaglesoft (our practice management software)
- Coordinate with the dental team to plan and deliver patient care; maintain a clean, organized work environment and perform office tasks as needed
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited dental assisting program, or current enrollment in a similar program
- Minimum 1 year of dental assisting experience preferred, ideally in pediatric dentistry — newcomers eager to be trained are encouraged to apply
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with both children and adults
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment; detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Team-player attitude with a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Knowledge of dental procedures, tools, and diagnostics
- Flexibility to adapt to office schedule changes and patient needs
- Spanish as a second language strongly preferred — many of our patient families are Spanish-speaking
- A warm, patient, upbeat personality — you genuinely enjoy working with children
Certifications (Arizona Requirements)
- Certification, or the ability to pass DANB (Dental Assisting National Board) certification exams
- Arizona Radiography Certification — Radiologic Proficiency Certificate via the DANB Radiation Health & Safety (RHS) exam, required to take dental X-rays (or willingness to obtain; out-of-state certification may qualify by credential)
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Arizona Coronal Polishing Certificate (DANB CP exam) strongly preferred; candidates holding this certificate qualify for the top of our pay range
- No state license is required for basic chair-side assisting duties — new assistants are welcome to apply
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-Time, Monday–Friday (no weekends!)
- Pay: $19–$25 per hour, depending on experience and certifications
