Arizona Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics is excited to announce a job opening for a Pediatric Dental Assistant. As a Pediatric Dental Assistant at our facility, you will be part of a team that thrives on excellence in care and patient satisfaction. We operate in a fast-paced office that handles a steady volume of patients daily. We're seeking motivated individuals who are either experienced in pediatric dentistry or newcomers eager to be trained in this fulfilling field. Our newly remodeled office is equipped with state-of-the-art dental technology, creating an optimal work environment. This position is Monday through Friday, promising a consistent schedule without the unpredictability of temp jobs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the pediatric dentist during a variety of treatment procedures.
- Set up and breakdown operatory post treatment.
- Take dental radiographs (x-rays).
- Manage infection control - prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment.
- Provide patients and parents with instructions for oral care following all dental treatment procedures.
- Educate patients on appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health.
- Perform various office tasks as necessary.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Engage with children to provide a comfortable and soothing environment during their dental visits.
- Prepare materials for dental impressions and restorations, take dental molds.
- Coordinate with the dental team to plan and deliver patient care.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited dental assisting program or current enrollment in a similar program.
- Certification or ability to pass certification exams (e.g., DANB – Dental Assisting National Board).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in dental assisting, with a preference for experience in pediatric dentistry.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with both children and adults.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Team-player attitude with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Knowledge of dental procedures, tools, and diagnostics.
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus, but not a requirement.
- Flexibility to adapt to office schedule changes and patient needs.
