Avast Care, a leading provider of in-home healthcare services, is excited to announce a job opening for a Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA). This part-time position is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are compassionate, diligent, and wish to make a significant impact in the lives of seniors by providing direct care in their homes. Please note that this is not a remote job, and the successful candidate will be required to work onsite at client locations predominantly within a designated service area.
Our home health aides are critical to the functionality and spirit of our service offerings. They facilitate a better quality of life for our patients through dedicated care and heartfelt support. This role not only involves technical knowledge of home health care standards but also a profound capacity for empathy and patience in dealing with elderly clients and their families.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist clients with daily personal tasks including but not limited to bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Provide supportive care, including assistance with mobility and transportation for medical appointments or other outings.
- Facilitate engaging activities that encourage mental stimulation and physical activity according to individual care plans.
- Observe and monitor clients’ health, physical condition and overall wellbeing, and report significant changes to the supervising nurse.
- Manage medication reminders as per the care schedule under the supervision of healthcare professionals.
- Prepare meals considering dietary restrictions and preferences as prescribed in the care plan.
- Handle light housekeeping duties such as cleaning, laundry, and maintenance of patient's living areas to ensure they are safe and hygienic.
- Provide compassionate support and companionship to promote a comforting environment.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and respect privacy at all times as per HIPAA regulations.
- Document and maintain accurate records of patient’s health, progress and care provided.
Requirements
- Must possess a valid New Jersey Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) license.
- Proven experience as a Home Health Aide or in a similar caregiving role with verifiable references.
- Strong understanding of infection control and health safety guidelines.
- Ability to operate standard healthcare equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building trust with the team and clients.
- Physical endurance to perform task-oriented duties and manage physically demanding workload.
- Availability for flexible hours and shifts, and ability to commute to various clients’ residences.
- CPR and First Aid certification desired but not compulsory.
- Demonstrate empathy and a deep sense of respect for the elderly.
- Must pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening before commencing employment.
