Job Title: Overnight Maintenance/Sanitation Technician 

Location: 200 Springs Road, Bedford, MA 01730 

Shift: Overnight | Full-Time | Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 10pm - Finish 

Applicants must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the facility and have reliable, consistent transportation to and from work.

About the Role: We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Overnight Floor Sanitation Technician to join our team. The primary responsibilities of this position are focused on floor maintenance and carpet cleaning services throughout the hospital during overnight hours. 

This includes performing floor care tasks such as stripping, sealing, waxing, and buffing hard floors; scrubbing stairwells and restroom floors; and steam cleaning or deep cleaning carpets. Additional duties include general sanitation, light maintenance, and ensuring all areas meet hospital cleanliness and infection control standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive floor maintenance, including:
  • Stripping, sealing, waxing, scrubbing, and buffing of various hard floor surfaces.
  • Scrubbing and cleaning stairways and restroom floors.
  • Steam cleaning and deep cleaning carpets and area rugs.
• Operate floor care and carpet cleaning equipment (buffers, scrubbers, extractors, steamers, etc.) safely and effectively.
• Perform general cleaning and sanitation of patient rooms, surgical areas, offices, and public spaces as needed.
• Follow all procedures for safe chemical use and disposal.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention, OSHA regulations, and VA hospital policies.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in environmental services, janitorial, or floor care roles, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Proven experience with floor maintenance techniques and carpet cleaning equipment.
• Ability to work independently and stay productive on overnight shifts.
• Familiarity with hospital-grade sanitation protocols and safety regulations is a plus.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Must pass a background check and meet all VA employment eligibility requirements.
