Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet customers as they enter the store, offering assistance with products and services.
- Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using POS systems.
- Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policy regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding products or services in a knowledgeable and friendly manner.
- Monitor checkout lines and manage the flow to reduce wait times for customers.
- Perform daily cash management and ensure the accuracy of the cash drawer.
- Assist in arranging store displays and ensure that products are attractively presented.
- Upsell additional products when appropriate and beneficial to the customer.
- Assist with inventory control, including receiving and stocking merchandise.
- Maintain a clean and orderly checkout area and complete other general cleaning duties.
- Participate in periodic team meetings and training sessions to enhance sales techniques and improve customer service skills.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a retail, cashier, or sales position preferred but not needed.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in managing money and operating a cash register.
- Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices.
- Knowledgeable in handling and solving customer grievances.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, and to move and handle merchandise and supplies up to 30 pounds.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
