Position Summary McLain Site Solutions is seeking a skilled Concrete Finisher to join our growing team. This position is responsible for placing, finishing, and repairing concrete on heavy civil and commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate has experience producing high-quality concrete finishes, reading construction plans, and working safely in a fast-paced environment while meeting production and quality standards.
Essential Responsibilities - Finish concrete by screeding, floating, edging, jointing, troweling, broom finishing, and applying specialty finishes as required.
- Place, spread, level, and smooth, freshly poured concrete to achieve the required grade and finish.
- Set forms, check grades and elevations, and assist with concrete layout.
- Install and tie reinforcing steel (rebar), wire mesh, dowels, and embeds as required.
- Strip, clean, and maintain forms and concrete finishing tools.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, vibratory screeds, power trowels, concrete saws, and other finishing equipment safely.
- Read and interpret blueprints, project specifications, and grade stakes.
- Assist with concrete placement, curing, and protection procedures.
- Perform patching, repairs, and finishing on existing concrete surfaces when needed.
- Work closely with foremen and equipment operators to ensure projects remain on schedule.
- Inspect finished work to ensure it meets company quality standards and project specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all company policies, OSHA regulations, and safety procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required - Minimum 2–3 years of concrete finishing experience.
- Experience with commercial, industrial, or heavy civil concrete projects.
- Ability to read blueprints, grades, and construction drawings.
- Knowledge of concrete placement, finishing, curing, and repair techniques.
- Ability to operate concrete finishing equipment and hand tools safely.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a crew.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license preferred.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in varying weather conditions.
Preferred - High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience with curb and gutter, sidewalks, slabs, foundations, headwalls, box culverts, or other heavy civil concrete structures.
- Experience operating skid steers, forklifts, or other construction equipment.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
- CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work on uneven terrain.
- Lift, push, pull, and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and concrete finishing equipment throughout the workday.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods.
- Perform repetitive motions involving lifting, kneeling, and finishing concrete surfaces.
Work Environment This position is performed primarily on active construction sites. Employees regularly work around heavy equipment, fresh concrete, moving machinery, dust, noise, vibration, and varying weather conditions. Required PPE must be worn at all times.
Schedule - Monday–Friday
- Typical hours: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- One-hour unpaid lunch
- Overtime may be available based on project needs and business needs.
