McLain Site Solutions is a Florida state-certified heavy civil construction company founded in 2021. We specialize in site development, underground utilities, earthwork, grading, demolition, and other heavy civil construction throughout Northeast Florida.

Position Summary

McLain Site Solutions is seeking dependable Construction Laborers to support our field crews on active civil construction sites. This is a hands-on position involving physical labor, jobsite preparation, material handling, basic tool operation, and assistance with pipe, concrete, grading, and earthwork operations.

The ideal candidate works safely, follows instructions, arrives on time, and is willing to learn. Previous heavy civil or underground utility experience is preferred but not required for reliable candidates who are ready to work.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Foremen, equipment operators, pipe crews, concrete crews, and other field employees.
  • Prepare and clean work areas before, during, and after construction activities.
  • Load, unload, carry, stage, and organize tools, materials, pipe, fittings, and supplies.
  • Assist with underground utility, storm drainage, watermain, sanitary sewer, grading, concrete, and site-development work.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, shovels, compactors, pumps, and other construction equipment as authorized.
  • Assist with trench preparation, bedding, backfill, compaction, and site cleanup.
  • Guide equipment using approved hand signals and remain aware of equipment swing areas and blind spots.
  • Install and maintain barricades, erosion controls, traffic-control devices, and other jobsite protections.
  • Follow instructions from Foremen and supervisors and communicate unsafe or unexpected conditions immediately.
  • Complete assigned work efficiently while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Inspect tools and equipment before use and report damaged or unsafe items.
  • Maintain dependable attendance and arrive prepared for the scheduled shift.
  • Perform additional duties based on project needs.

Qualifications

  • Construction or heavy civil experience is preferred but not required.
  • Underground utility, pipe, concrete, grading, or earthwork experience is a plus.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools.
  • Willingness to work around heavy equipment and active excavations.
  • Strong work ethic, dependability, and ability to work as part of a crew.
  • Reliable transportation to jobsites throughout Northeast Florida.
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather and jobsite conditions.
  • Willingness to work overtime when required.
  • Must comply with company safety policies and jobsite requirements.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull construction materials and equipment.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and perform repetitive physical tasks.
  • Work on uneven terrain and around excavations, mud, dust, noise, and active equipment.
  • Perform physically demanding work outdoors in Florida heat, humidity, rain, and other changing conditions.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment at all times.

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday
  • Typical hours: 7:00 AM–5:00 PM
  • One-hour unpaid lunch
  • Overtime may be available based on project and business needs.
