Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct initial dental assessments and prepare patient for dental examinations.
- Perform professional dental cleaning services including scaling, root planing, and polishing.
- Apply preventive materials to the teeth such as fluoride.
- Take dental x-rays and intraoral photos.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene strategies, including brushing, flossing, and nutritional counseling.
- Document and maintain comprehensive and accurate patient records.
- Assess patient oral health conditions, review medical history and advise patients on oral health disease prevention.
- Collaborate with dentist to plan for patient care and treatment.
- Ensure strict compliance with all relevant hygiene and infection control guidelines and regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment consistent with health and safety standards.
Requirements
- Must possess a current Missouri license as a dental hygienist.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in dental hygiene from an accredited program.
- Strong working knowledge of dental healthcare safety regulations and the ability to work in compliance with these regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain effective rapport with patients, dentist, and other staff members.
- Must be friendly and patient-centric, always striving to provide the best patient experience.
- Strong communication skills needed to communicate effectively with patients about their dental health and care plans.
- Must be reliable, diligent, and capable of multitasking.
