RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Lead day-to-day construction accounting operations, including job cost accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, subcontractor payments, retainage tracking, contractor commissions, and cash management.

  • Manage Project Progress billings, Work in Progress, and Revenue Recognition.

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements, including project-level reporting, in collaboration with the Finance team.

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and oversee construction-related cash flow management.

  • Maintain detailed reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Monitor and manage accounts receivable to ensure timely collections and healthy cash flow.

  • Oversee accounts payable processes related to subcontractors and vendors, ensuring proper approvals, compliance documentation, and timely payment in accordance with contract terms.

  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets and forecasts.

  • Prepare supporting documentation and schedules for the external tax team and annual audits.

  • Analyze financial transactions and provide clear, detailed explanations and reporting to leadership.

  • Support management with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed.

  • Contribute to the development and improvement of internal controls specific to construction operations, policies, and accounting procedures.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILL

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required).

  • CPA license or CPA eligibility (preferred, not required).

  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably including experience in general contractor, subcontractor, or construction-related environment. 

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP with specific experience in construction accounting and general accounting principles.

  • Experience managing job costing, project cost tracking, change orders, and budget-to-actual reporting.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining internal controls specific to construction operations, including subcontractor compliance, lien waivers, and certified payroll reporting.

  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, operations teams, subcontractors, and external auditors.
