We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Full-Time Tree Climber to help us continue to deliver exceptional service and care in forest management and land clearing services. This crucial role is geared towards an individual passionate about nature, embracing the challenges of outdoor work with vigor and precision. Please note, this position is not a remote job and requires physical presence at various job sites.

As a vital member of our field operations team, the successful applicant will be instrumental in managing and maintaining the health of trees and wooded areas, ensuring they are safe, healthy, and aesthetically pleasing. This role is perfect for those who enjoy physical activity, working outdoors, and playing a direct role in environmental conservation and land management.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assess the condition of trees and forests, identifying tasks such as pruning, trimming, or removal needed to enhance landscape health and safety.
• Use climbing gear and ropes to ascend and descend trees safely while employing a variety of hand and power tools to remove limbs or other parts of a tree.
• Operate and maintain equipment such as chainsaws, chippers, and loaders, adhering to all safety regulations and standards.
• Work in coordination with ground crew to ensure that all cut tree parts are securely rigged and safely brought to the ground.
• Perform emergency tree care after natural disasters to remove hazards that pose risks to public safety and infrastructure.
• Implement detailed job safety assessments and hazard elimination before commencing any climb or tree work.
• Provide advice and consultation on tree health, treatments, and preservation measures.
• Continuously update skills and knowledge in tree care and management through certifications and trainings.
• Maintain a clean and safe job site, before, during, and after completion of projects.
• Engage with clients, public, or fellow team members professionally, providing necessary information on the tasks being performed.
• Adhere to and promote all safety standards and company policies regarding environmental stewardship and workplace safety.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Tree Climber or in a similar role within forestry or arboriculture industries.
• Professional certifications related to arboriculture, such as ISA Certified Arborist or similar, are highly desirable.
• Proficiency in using tree climbing equipment and gear including safety harnesses, climbing ropes, and pruning tools.
• Physical ability to perform demanding tasks in all weather conditions, at heights, and within potentially hazardous environments.
• Sound knowledge of tree species, their health indicators, and appropriate care standards.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to safety best practices in forestry services.
• Driver’s license with clean driving record and ability to travel to various job sites as required.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in forestry, horticulture, or related field is a plus.
• Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently, prioritizing safety of self and others.
