Dental Assistant / EFDA (Expanded Functions Dental Assistant) - (PSJ Dental Care)
PSJ Dental Care: Cocoa, FL - Full-Time - Non-Exempt - $20 – $25 per hour (based on experience)
Position Overview
Outgoing and friendly Dental Assistant wanted to join our low stress, highly positive dental team. We are well established, one doctor private practice, in a beautiful office with state of the art equipment including digital radio-graphs, intra-oral camera, Eaglesoft software and electronic (no charts) records. We are looking for an experienced, mature and compassionate team player to help us care for our wonderful patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome patients from the start of their dental journey, as well as sustain patient comfort and provide appropriate education throughout treatment
- Conduct a thorough review of the patient’s health history in order to provide quality care
- Take and process x-rays and other diagnostic assessments (3D scanner, Intra-Oral pictures, etc.)
- Ability to take quality impressions and bite registrations.
- Perform additional expanded functions based on certification(s) to support patient care (coronal polishing, restorative functions, etc.)
- Provide superior chairside assistance and cheerful environment to support dentist during a wide variety of procedures in accordance with the state dental practice act including but not limited to pediatric care, oral surgery, and general restorative procedures
- Utilize Eaglesoft for patient scheduling and record keeping
- Breakdown operatory rooms for doctors and hygienists
- Sterilizing and disinfecting tools/instruments, equipment and operatories, sets up instrument trays and prepares materials for patient visit
- Disposes of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards
- Develop favorable relationships with all patients. Instruct patients and their family members on general oral health care and/or information related to post-treatment care as appropriate
- Maintains necessary stock of supplies utilized by dental clinic
- Follow maintenance schedules for flushing waterlines/suction lines, and/or waterline testing, autoclave, and compressor on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis
- Monitor and aid in management of laboratory cases.

Qualifications /Experience
- Minimum 3-5 year of experience as a Dental Assistant
- Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) certification
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/ CPR certification from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
- Nitrous Oxide Monitoring certification (Florida-approved)
- Fabulous communication and customer service skills, must be a “people” person
- Excellent computer skills, email, Microsoft Office and dental software (Eaglesoft)
- Strong understanding of dental terminology and knowledgeable in all types of dental procedures
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and infection control standards

Compensation
