Unarmed Security Officer

Overview

No two shifts are identical when protecting Newport News businesses. Enterprise Security Services Corporation, a women-owned and minority-owned firm with over 30 years of security experience, is seeking dependable Unarmed Security Officers to cover client locations throughout Newport News, Virginia, and the surrounding Hampton Roads area. We are looking for responsible professionals who take ownership of the environments they are assigned to protect.

Major Roles and Duties

• Maintain a visible security presence to deter theft, trespassing, vandalism, and unauthorized activity.
• Conduct routine foot patrols of buildings, parking lots, entrances, and property perimeters.
• Monitor access points, verify credentials, and manage visitor entry according to site procedures.
• Monitor CCTV cameras, alarms, and security equipment when assigned.
• Identify suspicious activity, safety hazards, and security vulnerabilities and report them promptly.
• Respond to disturbances and emergencies using professional communication and de-escalation techniques.
• Coordinate with property management, employees, visitors, and emergency responders when necessary.
• Prepare accurate incident reports, daily activity logs, and shift handover notes.
• Enforce client site rules and follow company policies and assigned post orders.
• Maintain a professional appearance, reliable attendance, and punctuality throughout scheduled shifts.

Requirements

• Meet Virginia's minimum age and eligibility requirements for unarmed security work.
• Possess or be eligible to obtain the required Virginia DCJS security officer registration and training.
• Successfully complete applicable background screening and client-specific requirements.
• Have reliable transportation to assigned locations throughout Newport News and nearby areas.
• Demonstrate strong communication, observation, and problem-solving skills.
• Be able to stand and walk for extended periods and conduct routine patrols.
• Be able to follow instructions and complete basic written reports.
• Maintain a professional appearance and comply with uniform requirements.
• Be available for morning, evening, overnight, weekend, or holiday shifts as needed.
• Previous security experience, CPR, or first aid certification is preferred but not required for all assignments.

Uniform and Equipment
A clean, professional security uniform is required; a Class A black uniform may be required for certain assignments. Radios and other security equipment may be provided as needed.

Schedule
Morning, afternoon, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts may be available depending on client coverage requirements.
