We are currently seeking dedicated Retail Security Officers to support our retail clients and help create a safe, welcoming shopping environment.
Position Summary
The Retail Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a visible security presence, preventing theft and loss, ensuring customer and employee safety, and supporting store operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong observational skills, excellent customer service abilities, and the professionalism required to interact with customers, staff, and law enforcement when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor customer and employee activity to identify potential security risks.
- Deter shoplifting, theft, vandalism, and other criminal activity through visible presence.
- Respond to security incidents and policy violations in a professional manner.
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting guests and answering questions when appropriate.
- Investigate and document incidents involving theft, suspicious behavior, accidents, or disturbances.
- Monitor surveillance systems and report unusual activity.
- Maintain access control for designated employee-only areas.
- Coordinate with store management and local law enforcement as needed.
- Complete accurate incident reports, daily activity logs, and shift reports.
Qualifications
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Virginia Security Officer Registration.
- Previous security, loss prevention, retail, military, or law enforcement experience preferred.
- Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check in accordance with state requirements.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred but not required.

Uniform & Equipment
- Officers are required to maintain a professional Class A security uniform.
- Communication devices and other required equipment may be issued by the company.
Work Conditions
- Day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts may be available.
- Retail environments may experience high customer traffic and fast-paced conditions.
- Flexibility to respond to staffing needs and special assignments is preferred.
