Authorization Specialist

Part- or Full-Time (Remote - supporting rural rehabilitation teams)

InReach Rehab is seeking a detail-oriented Authorization Specialist to support our rehabilitation teams by coordinating pre-authorizations with insurance companies for Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology services. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys organized, behind-the-scenes work and ensuring patients have timely access to care.

This is a remote position, with preference for candidates located in the Midwest, including states such as Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Colorado, South Dakota, and Wyoming. Duties and Responsibilities

• Obtain and track pre-authorizations with insurance companies for PT, OT, and SLP services.
• Review patient referrals and documentation to ensure authorization requirements are complete and accurate.
• Follow up with insurers to prevent delays in patient care.
• Work closely with Front Office Coordinators and clinical teams to maintain smooth workflow across locations.
• Maintain accurate electronic records and update authorization status promptly.
• Ensure all authorizations comply with insurance guidelines and healthcare regulations.
• Verify patient insurance benefits and clarify coverage as needed.
• Communicate authorization results clearly and promptly to clinic staff.
• Participate in team meetings, training, and process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in healthcare administration, insurance coordination, or billing preferred but not required.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote role.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and OneDrive.
• Commitment to teamwork, accuracy, and patient-centered care.
