TORQ Coatings is hiring an Accounting Operations Manager as a Day 1 foundational hire. This role will be responsible for accounting operations, job costing accuracy, purchasing oversight, payroll coordination, and financial reporting—while preparing to grow quickly into a Controller-level position as the company expands into additional markets. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations (AP, AR, GL accuracy, reconciliations).
  • Prepare financial data for month-end close and work directly with our fractional CFO.
  • Maintain financial accuracy across all departments and job costing inputs.
  • Build processes and SOPs for scalability as TORQ grows into multi-location operations.
  • Own the entire purchasing workflow: POs, vendor pricing checks, packing slip matching, invoice accuracy.
  • Ensure all material purchases align with job budgets.
  • Track spending, job cost variances, and margin impact.
  • Maintain purchasing documentation and vendor relationships.
  • Complete job costing before each job starts and after completion.
  • Track labor, materials, overhead, returns, waste, and profitability.
  • Provide weekly profitability insights to leadership.
  • Identify variances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare payroll inputs including hours, reimbursements, bonuses, and sales commissions.
  • Maintain accurate employee files and HR documentation.
  • Support benefit administration and onboarding paperwork.
  • Maintain accurate financials in QuickBooks.
  • Utilize AI tools to improve workflow efficiency, automation, reporting, and document processing.
  • Maintain and update CRM data to support job costing, invoicing, and financial accuracy.
  • Help build cross-department workflow automations.
  • Act as a Day 1 leader in building TORQ’s financial systems.
  • Create documentation, processes, and reporting frameworks.
  • Prepare to hire, lead, and mentor future accounting team members.
  • Clear pathway to Controller as the company scales.
  • Build dashboards for job profitability, margins, expenses, and accounting KPIs.
  • Provide weekly reporting and insights to the Founder & fractional CFO.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 4–7+ years of accounting or financial operations experience.
  • Strong understanding of job costing, accrual accounting, and reconciliations.
  • QuickBooks experience (Required).
  • Comfortable using AI tools to streamline processes.
  • Familiar with CRM systems and workflow accuracy.
  • Experience building or improving accounting processes.
  • Highly organized, accurate, proactive, and able to meet deadlines.
  • Willing to grow professionally and move into a Controller-level role.
  • Experience in construction, home improvement, or manufacturing (Preferred).
  • Prior experience supervising others or leading projects (Preferred).
  • Experience working in high-growth or multi-location environments (Preferred).
