Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide daily living assistance to our clients, including personal grooming, feeding, and daily activities.
- Implement individual care plans while ensuring that the health and safety of clients are prioritized at all times.
- Support emotional and social development, encouraging understanding and self-respect.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of activities, behaviors, and incidents.
- Assist in the facilitation of community and recreational outings, including transportation and escorting if necessary.
- Ensure constant communication and collaboration with team members and management to optimize care.
- Handle sensitive information with confidentiality according to the company's policy and relevant laws.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to ensure best practices and compliance with changing guidelines and legislation.
- Provide crisis intervention as necessary and maintain a calm and professional demeanor during emergency situations.
- Perform duties as assigned within the professional scope and state regulations.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; further certification in healthcare or social services preferred.
- Proven experience as a Direct Support Professional or in a similar caregiving role.
- Knowledge of CPR and first aid techniques; certification is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to use assertive communication while maintaining respect and compassion.
- Strong ethical standards and a significant degree of empathy towards the needs of others.
- Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt strategies on a case-by-case basis.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting or assisting clients physically when required.
- Must be able to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts as needed.
- Must pass background checks typically required in the healthcare industry.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Commitment to the professional and ethical handling of sensitive and personal information.
