Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist clients with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating, and toileting.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing linens.
- Help clients with mobility issues around the home or outside (doctor’s appointments, walks etc.).
- Monitor and report changes in health, behavior, and needs to appropriate medical or professional staff.
- Ensure clients’ safety and security by supervising the home environment.
- Encourage clients through positive communication and provide emotional support.
- Administer medication as prescribed by the healthcare provider and assist with exercises as appropriate.
- Prepare food considering dietary needs and preferences of the clients.
- Maintain confidential client information and care records accurately.
- Attend training sessions and meetings as required to ensure best practices and continual learning.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Proven experience as a caregiver or similar role is essential.
- Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking with attention to dietary constraints.
- Strong understanding of infection control and hygiene best practices.
- Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards.
- Respectful and compassionate with a client-focused orientation.
- Good time management skills, ability to multitask, and comfortable working in a varying schedule.
- Reliability and trustworthiness is crucial in this role.
- Physical ability to care for a young child or elderly person.
- Ability to manage stress and adapt to changing environments or situations.
- Certification in CPR or first aid is preferred.
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
