Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and support to residents, including personal hygiene, mobility, and daily activities
- Implement care plans tailored to the individual needs of residents
- Monitor and record residents’ progress and health issues, reporting any concerns to the supervisory staff
- Assist in the planning and execution of recreational and social activities for residents
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for all residents
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and practices
- Develop strong, supportive relationships with residents, fostering a positive and enriching atmosphere
- Participate in meetings and training sessions to continuously improve the quality of care provided
- Facilitate communication between residents and their families
- Administer medications according to prescribed guidelines
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents
- Assist with meal preparation and ensuring dietary guidelines are followed
- Support the rights and dignity of all individuals in the care center
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Direct Support Professional or similar role in healthcare
- High school diploma or equivalent; further certification in healthcare is a plus
- Excellent understanding of health and safety guidelines in a caregiving setting
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks when necessary
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate and patient, with a strong dedication to enhancing the lives of others
- Knowledge of basic medical and psychological principles related to residential care
- Current CPR and first aid certification ( Not required but SA
- Availability to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Consistent record of reliability and punctuality
