Job Description

Artisan Wood Fired Kitchen, renowned for its unique culinary offerings and cozy dining ambiance, is excited to announce a job opening for a Food Runner / Host. This part-time position is an excellent opportunity for individuals who take pride in enhancing customer dining experiences and are eager to be part of a passionate culinary team. It is important to note that this is not a remote job; the role requires a physical presence at our lively venue.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the smooth operation of our services by ensuring timely delivery of food and providing attentive care to our guests. This position is an essential link between our kitchen and dining area, helping to uphold our commitment to exceptional service and dining excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome guests promptly in a warm and friendly manner.
  • Escort guests to their tables in accordance with their preferences and special needs, and managing wait times.
  • Handle menu distribution and communicate daily specials to guests.
  • Efficiently manage seating arrangements to maximize satisfaction and restaurant capacity.
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate order preparation.
  • Deliver food orders from the kitchen to the customer's tables rapidly and accurately.
  • Act as the point of contact between the guests and the servers.
  • Ensure the dining area is always neat, clean, and ready to welcome guests.
  • Assist servers with table settings by carrying plates, utensils, and drinks from the kitchen to the guest dining area.
  • Keep up with the pace of the restaurant, especially during peak hours, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Analyze guests’ dining trends and preferences to enhance their satisfaction levels.
  • Help manage the flow of guests and minimize the wait time during busy periods.
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods to accurately respond to guest inquiries and dietary concerns.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Food Runner, Host, or a similar role in a restaurant environment.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, with proficiency in English.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Physical endurance to walk and stand during an entire shift, including moving safely through crowded dining areas.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team to ensure that food orders are accurate and delivered to customers promptly.
  • High attention to detail and a passion for providing guests a high-quality dining experience.
  • A friendly, outgoing personality and a genuine desire to help and please others.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations professionally and calmly.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends and evenings.
  • Aptitude for learning and using point-of-sale software and other required applications.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations within a restaurant environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the capacity to handle customer complaints and concerns with grace.
