Are you a dentist who believes there is more to dentistry than simply fixing teeth?
Do you find yourself interested in prevention, airway health, comprehensive dentistry and the connection between oral health and overall wellness?
Maybe you already practice integrative dentistry—or maybe you're simply curious about a more comprehensive approach and want the opportunity to learn.
You may be exactly who we're looking for.
Cape Fear Smiles is a growing, integrative dental practice in beautiful Wilmington, North Carolina. We combine excellent general dentistry with preventive, wellness-focused, and airway-centered principles to provide thoughtful, comprehensive care centered around the individual patient.
Our philosophy is simple: the mouth is part of the body, and dentistry should reflect that.
We don't expect our next dentist to arrive knowing everything about integrative dentistry. We're looking for someone with the right mindset—curious, compassionate, prevention-focused, and excited to continue learning.
Our approach goes beyond traditional restorative dentistry. Depending on each patient's individual needs, our practice incorporates:
Comprehensive and preventive dentistry
Ceramic (zirconia) dental implants
SMART mercury amalgam removal
Ozone therapy
PRF and advanced healing techniques
Laser dentistry
Airway and sleep evaluations
TMJ therapy
Education around the oral-systemic connection
We invest in technology, continuing education, and innovative approaches that allow us to provide dentistry with a broader view of health.
Believes prevention should be a major part of dentistry
Is naturally curious about the connection between the mouth and the rest of the body
Values comprehensive dental treatment whenever appropriate
Enjoys educating patients rather than simply treating disease
Wants to build relationships with patients and understand their goals
Is interested in airway, sleep, TMJ, nutrition, or whole-body wellness
Enjoys learning and wants to continue growing clinically
Values collaboration and a supportive team environment
Is open to learning integrative approaches to dentistry
Previous integrative dental experience is NOT required.
If you've been curious about integrative dentistry but haven't known where to begin, this could be an opportunity to learn while continuing to practice excellent comprehensive dentistry.
Mentorship and support will be available as you develop your knowledge and clinical skills.
Provide high-quality comprehensive general dentistry
Diagnose and develop individualized treatment plans
Emphasize prevention and long-term oral health
Educate patients about their conditions and treatment options
Provide restorative and general dental procedures within your training and experience
Collaborate on complex and interdisciplinary cases
Learn and incorporate integrative techniques as appropriate
Participate in continuing education and team training
Maintain thorough and accurate clinical documentation
Contribute to a positive, collaborative practice culture
DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school
Current North Carolina dental license
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to ethical, patient-centered dentistry
Strong desire for continued professional growth
Interest in integrative, functional, airway, preventive, or wellness-focused dentistry
SMART certification is a plus, but willingness to obtain certification is equally welcome
You've ever thought:
“There has to be more to dentistry than drilling, filling, and treating the same problems over and over again.”
We want a dentist who is interested in asking why—and helping patients achieve healthier mouths as part of healthier lives.
This is an opportunity to practice excellent dentistry, explore a more integrative approach to patient care, and grow alongside a team that is excited about the future of dentistry.
If this sounds like the kind of dentistry you've been looking for, we'd love to meet you.
Cape Fear Smiles — where oral health and whole-body wellness come together.
