Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs research, design, and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods, and production equipment.
  • Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment.
  • Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members, and evaluating results.
  • Create manning plans based on volume forecasts for new programs.
  • Gives input to product design based on design for manufacture/design for assembly philosophy.
  • Designs, develops, and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery, and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
  • Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
  • Develop and document quality system for new programs (control plan, PFMEA, process flow, work instructions, and inspection plans).
  • Coordinate and document all Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities.
  • Calculate required dunnage usage. Design, test, and order all necessary dunnage for new programs.
  • Develop and maintain documentation such as downtime, scrap, and efficiencies.
  • Utilize data such as downtime, scrap, efficiencies, etc. to plan and strategize countermeasures for equipment and process problems.
  • Leads or participates in Kaizen activities to ensure continuous improvement in processes, products, components, raw materials, and equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with three (3) to five (5) years Engineering experience. Experience in the automotive manufacturing industry is preferred.
  • Experience with 2D/3D CAD (Solidworks, AutoCad).
  • Knowledge of GD&T and ability to understand CNC experience, including reading and understanding G-code.
  • Experience in Automotive Manufacturing, Understanding of IATF 16949 & ISO14001 standards.
  • Experience with Automation, Sensors, Vision systems, PLCs, 2D barcodes.
  • Proficient in using hand measurement tools: Caliper, Micrometer, etc.
  • Strong project management skills, including experience with capital expenditures and vendor management.
  • Understanding of and ability to perform: process capabilities (Cpk), process flow analysis, gauge R&R, and time studies.
  • Capability in fixture design and tooling selection and design applicable to Lathes, Mills, Grinders, Deburring machines.
  • Familiarity with current automotive standards and OSHA regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be proficient in MSWord, Excel, and PowerPoint. Some Access experience preferred.
