We are seeking a licensed Physical Therapy Assistant to join our team on a Full Time basis. Candidates must be licensed as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the State of Michigan and able to travel throughout Pure Home Health Care’s geographical area.

JOB SUMMARY

The Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant provides a wide array of rehabilitation services to clients in their place of residence and functions as a part of a multidisciplinary team. These services are planned , delegated and supervised by the physical therapist , in accordance with physician’s orders.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/ KNOWLEDGE

  • Treats and instructs patients/caregivers according to exercise program developed by the Physical Therapist, to relieve pain, develop and restore function, and maintain maximum performance.

  • Uses physical means such as therapeutic exercise, massage, heat, light and electricity.

  • Determines patients equipment needs, in consultation with the physical therapist.

  • Directs and aids patients/caregivers according to Physical Therapist's instructions.

  • Instructs patients/caregivers in treatment plan to include next scheduled visit, use of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, other adaptive equipment, prosthetic and orthic devices, according to program developed by the Physical Therapist.

  • Develops, prepares and maintains individualized patient care progress records with accuracy, timeliness and according to policies. Submits accurate and complete documentation within 24 hours of visit.

  • Knowledge and application of universal precautions and infection control principles to a broad range of clients.

  • Prevents and recognizes emergencies and knowledge of emergency preparedness procedures.

  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to the geriatric population, and to a lesser degree the adult and pediatric populations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduated from a 2-year college level program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association.

  • Current Michigan Operator's license.

  • At least one year of appropriate experience in a health/rehabilitative facility with demonstrated competency in the practice of physical therapy.

  • Acute care experience preferred.

  • Has reliable transportation and willing to drive in all kinds of weather.

  • Willing to work the hours required by the Agency, including evening and weekend hours as agreed upon, and to maintain a flexible schedule.

  • Health and stamina sufficient to perform the job.
