Duties and Responsibilities

• Secure cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers.
• Inspect loads to ensure that cargo is secure.
• Maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.
• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
• Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
• Drive trucks to weigh stations before and after loading and along routes to document weights and to comply with state regulations.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs.
• Check conditions of trailers after contents have been unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage.
• Couple or uncouple trailers by changing trailer jack positions, connecting or disconnecting air or electrical lines, or manipulating fifth-wheel locks.
• Communicate with dispatchers, other drivers, or customers by means of wireless devices, on-board computers, telephones, or personal digital assistants (PDAs).
• Operate equipment, such as truck cab computers, CB radios, phones, or global positioning systems (GPS) equipment to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers.
• Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, recharging batteries, fueling, or replacing liquefied-gas tank.

Requirements

• Class A CDL
• 22 Years of Age
• Years Since DUI: 5
• Accept Felons: Case Basis
• Failed Drug Screen: No
• OTR Experience: 12 Months/Flatbed: 6 Months
• Must be able to drive 10 speed manual transmission
• Hometime: Home some nights
• Live loading/Pre-load performed on-site at customer.
• Average 2+ loads per day.
• Additional training at the customer site.
• Sleeper may require one night not home.
• Routine maintenance to be completed on Saturday (2-3 x year).
• Normal work day is 10 hour days.
• Start between 4AM to 6AM, deliver at 7AM.
