As a Semi Dedicated Flatbed Class A Driver, you will have the privilege of being home on some nights, making it an excellent opportunity for maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Please note, this is not a remote job and requires physical presence and operation within designated locations primarily in Michigan and Ohio. Your primary tasks include handling mostly preloaded, no-tarp flatbed trailers loaded with rebar, ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements during transit.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate commercial vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Conduct routine vehicle maintenance and inspections before and after trips, ensuring all equipment is in good working order.
  • Adhere to company safety policies, as well as local, state, and federal driving laws and regulations.
  • Protect cargo from the elements, securing and managing flatbed contents, particularly handling no-tarp required units.
  • Efficiently plan routes to ensure timely delivery of freight, optimizing travel time and expenses.
  • Maintain accurate logs of hours of service and delivery records using the electronic logging devices (ELDs).
  • Provide exceptional customer service during freight delivery, representing the company professionally at all times.
  • Coordinate regularly with dispatch and logistics teams to update on progress and manage any on-road incidents or changes in schedule.
  • Effectively manage long hours and overnight hauls with occasional stays away from home, returning for some nightly respites.
  • Ensure delivery documentation is signed and returned back to the local offices and maintain records of receipts.

Requirements

  • Class A CDL required.
  • Minimum age of 22 years.
  • Minimum of 12 months OTR experience with at least 6 months experience in flatbed operations.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive drug screening (No failed drug tests).
  • Clean driving record with no DUIs within the past 5 years.
  • Felony charges will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Commitment to safety with ability to follow all safety rules and regulations.
  • Physical capable to load and unload cargo as needed, including the securement of freight without tarping.
  • Strong geographic knowledge of Michigan and Ohio for efficient route planning.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet delivery schedules and manage documentation.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a diverse team.
  • Effective communication skills to ensure clear interaction with dispatchers, clients, and other road users.
