Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate Class A vehicles in a safe and efficient manner adhering to all company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure proper functioning of the vehicle and compliance with safety standards.
  • Conduct basic maintenance checks including assessing oil, water, and gas levels before each journey.
  • Report any incidents or accidents immediately to management and follow necessary procedural protocols.
  • Maintain communication with dispatch to receive assignments, updates, and provide status reports.
  • Ensure timely delivery of goods to predetermined customers on specific routes, reviewing orders before and after delivery to ensure that orders are complete, and the customer is satisfied.
  • Assist in loading and unloading goods from the truck, ensuring that cargo is secured prior to departure.
  • Navigate routes using both traditional maps and GPS technology to ensure the most efficient route to destinations.
  • Maintain a positive attitude with customers and peers alike, showcasing professionalism at all times.
  • Keep track of receipts, invoices, and signatures to validate the delivery of goods and manage necessary paperwork.
  • Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in safety meetings and training to ensure up-to-date knowledge of the latest industry practices and techniques.

Requirements

  • Valid CDL Class A License.
  • Recent graduate from an accredited Truck Driving School.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and background check.
  • Strong understanding of DOT regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to navigate and is familiar with GPS and traditional mapping tools.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Capability to manage extended hours of driving with optimal focus and adherence to safety standards.
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication capabilities to interact with coworkers and customers professionally.
  • Physical fitness to handle the demands of cargo loading and unloading.
  • Adaptability to changing schedules and potential emergencies or changes in routes.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a dynamic, collaborative atmosphere.
