NDT Tech-Offshore
About the Role
The NDT Technician will perform industrial inspections and support onshore/offshore inspection activities for piping, pipelines, pressure vessels, and mechanical and structural components. This role supports NDT Level I and II operations and is focused on safety, accuracy, and thorough documentation of inspection results.
Success in this position means delivering reliable inspection execution, maintaining compliance with offshore safety protocols and certification requirements, and producing complete, accurate inspection reports using required documentation methods and software. The role is frequently travel-based and operates as an on-call position, often requiring readiness to work in remote and dynamic environments.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist NDT Level I and II Technicians in conducting inspections using applicable NDT methods.
- Prepare inspection materials, tools, and equipment prior to execution of field tasks.
- Support offshore inspection and survey activities alongside diving contractors or independently for offshore structures, vessels, and pipelines.
- Conduct cathodic protection surveys to assess corrosion control effectiveness on offshore assets.
- Use rope access techniques to safely reach and inspect offshore structures, equipment, and components.
- Capture inspection findings using camera, video, and written documentation methods to support reporting requirements.
- Prepare and maintain detailed inspection reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project and industry standards.
- Assist with general inspection and maintenance tasks as assigned by supervisors.
- Operate, maintain, and inspect rope access and NDT equipment to ensure reliability and compliance with safety regulations.
- Follow offshore safety protocols, including correct PPE use and active participation in safety drills.
- Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors to support efficient task execution.
- Set up and calibrate inspection equipment, including Radiographic Testing equipment, in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures.
Requirements
- IRATA Rope Access Level 1 or Level 2.
- Level II certifications in: Ultrasonic Thickness, Dye Penetrant, Radiographic Testing, Computed & Digital Radiography, Visual Testing, and Magnetic Particle (with ability to provide signed OJT, proof of classroom hours, and Level II certifications).
- Minimum two (2) years of documented NDT Level II work experience.
- Ability to interpret, evaluate, and document inspection results using formal report paperwork.
- Radiation Safety State Card.
- TWIC Card (or ability to obtain).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to obtain or hold required travel and safety credentials: valid passport, SafeGulf, and HUET Water Survival certification.
- Successful completion of a Respiratory Fit Test administered by OII for work in H2S environments and confined spaces; must be clean-shaven prior to testing.
- Ability to work offshore and onshore, including extended periods in remote locations.
- Ability to travel frequently and work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
- Comfort working in dynamic, remote, and potentially challenging environments.
- Ability to generate inspection reports using required computer software applications.
- Strong attention to detail, safety mindset, and commitment to documentation accuracy.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, including supporting and mentoring Level I trainees when assigned.
