As a Sr. Stress Analyst, you will engage with company Space Systems and Aerospace and Defense Technologies to push the boundaries of traditional engineering solutions. CLS is a recognized leader not only in the offshore energy industry but also in sectors encompassing defense, space, and harsh environmental operations. This role demands a professional who is adept at balancing rigorous analysis with innovative problem-solving, to ensure the delivery of practical, reliable, and safe engineered products and services.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform classical and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) including linear/non-linear statics, modal, frequency response, random response, explicit, and implicit transient analyses of various systems.
- Conduct detailed structural integrity calculations for various failure modes such as static, fatigue, fracture, buckling, stability, and creep.
- Ensure the structural safety of mechanical joints, including welds and fasteners, through meticulous calculations and assessments.
- Support Project Managers and Integrated Product Teams by preparing proposals, handling change requests, participating in design reviews, and fulfilling other design-related requirements.
- Develop and deliver presentations and interim reports during the design phase based on analysis and testing data.
- Prepare and coordinate the necessary documentation for formal design approval and align these approvals with client requirements.
- Assist in fracture control assessments and fatigue-life analysis for flight hardware to maintain and enhance structural reliability.
- Apply appropriate analysis techniques, make reasoned assumptions, and use expert judgment to solve complex engineering problems.
- Document analysis results thoroughly and generate detailed reports for hardware certification processes.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Engineering field such as Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil, or equivalent.
- 10-15 years of direct experience in a relevant engineering role.
- Must have 3-5 years of recent experience in LS-DYNA.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, design, systems, and mathematical skills.
- Experience with commercial CAD software including, but not limited to, Creo, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
- Knowledgeable about and experienced with industry standards and specifications including NASA, AIAA, API, ASME, and DNV.
- Must be a US citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Must be able to travel to Houston once a month for 3 day stay.
