Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
- Enters, maintains, or processes information in the payroll system including hourly rates, salaries, bonuses, time worked, paid leave, and holidays, deductions, and withholdings.
 - Ensures confidentiality and privacy of employee records and payroll information.
 - Reviews timesheets and related documents to detect and reconcile any payroll discrepancies.
 - Processes and validates payroll changes like 401K modifications as per Benefits Team instructions.
 - Executes timely and accurately processing of US and Canada payrolls including regular, terminations, and off-cycle adjustments.
 - Ensures proper allocation and processing of deductions for taxes, benefits, and other withholdings.
 - Reconciles payroll with general ledger and bank statements monthly.
 - Processes new hire documents and updates payroll records in the system.
 - Assists with the handling of federal and state tax processes and researches related inquiries as required.
 - Conducts post-payroll auditing and processing tasks to ensure accuracy and compliance.
 - Updates and manages payroll records by recording changes in exemptions, job transfers, salary increases, and other payroll-related adjustments.
 - Issues and records adjustments to pay related to previous errors or retroactive increases.
 - Executes the generation and distribution of paychecks and direct deposit funds.
 - Handles federal and state payroll tax deposits and compliance reporting.
 - Regularly updates payroll procedural documentation to reflect current practices.
 - Supports audits by providing reports and documents to external and internal auditors.
 - Performs payroll system testing when implementing new features or updates.
 - Collaborates with various departments to ensure accurate and timely provision of payroll data.
 - Manages employment verification and responds to related inquiries.
 - Processes legal orders like garnishments and levies as per court directions.
 - Participates in projects and special payroll initiatives as required.
 - Supports year-end payroll closing and auditing processes.
 - Manages and responds to payroll-related correspondence.
 - Performs other duties as assigned by the Payroll Manager or Supervisor.
 
Requirements
- Associate degree preferred or Certified Payroll Professional Certification; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may also be considered.
 - Three (3) to five (5) years of related payroll experience.
 - In-depth knowledge of SOX compliance, FLSA and state compliance, along with global payroll compliance practices including for expatriates and inpatriates.
 - Proficient working knowledge of US payroll regulations, functions, and procedures.
 - Familiar with federal, state, and local statutory requirements, labor laws, and payroll tax requirements.
 - A proactive and self-motivated individual who adapts quickly to changes and can manage a remote working schedule when required.
