Sweet Tooth Pediatric Dentistry is thrilled to announce an opening for a Pediatric Dental Hygienist in our dynamic team. This position (3-4 days) is designed for a dedicated and energetic individual who is passionate about providing excellent oral health care to children and adolescents. 

As a vital member of our dental practice, you’ll play a crucial role in providing top-notch dental care to our youngest patients, fostering a positive and comfortable environment for children to receive treatment, and educating both kids and parents about the importance of oral hygiene.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial dental assessments and prepare patients for dental examinations.

  • Perform professional dental cleaning, dental radiographs, and sealant applications.
  • Educate children and parents on effective oral hygiene practices and preventative dental care.
  • Manage dental and medical records of the patients accurately and confidentially.
  • Prepare and maintain the dental equipment and instrumentation in accordance with infection control policies and standards.
  • Participate in community outreach programs to promote oral health awareness.
  • Guide and mentor dental assistants and less experienced staff in pediatric dental care practices.
  • Engage in continuous education to keep up with the latest trends and best practices in pediatric dentistry.
  • Collaborate effectively with the dental team to coordinate patient care and optimize treatment outcomes.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Dental Hygiene from an accredited institution.
  • Valid NJ dental hygienist license.
  • Specialized training or experience in pediatric dentistry is preferred
  • Friendly and effective communication skills, with an emphasis on interacting with children.
  • Strong understanding of child development and pediatric oral health needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with children and parents
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a calm environment for young patients.
  • Ability to handle anxious or uncooperative children with patience and empathy
  • Commitment to adhering to safety and sanitation protocols.
