Dental Assistant Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist the dentist during a variety of dental procedures, including exams, fillings, and extractions.
- Prepare and organize instruments, materials, and treatment rooms for patient procedures.
- Sterilize dental instruments and ensure adherence to infection control protocols.
- Take and develop dental X-rays and assist with other diagnostic procedures.
- Record patient medical and dental histories accurately in electronic or paper records.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care instructions.
- Manage appointment scheduling and patient flow to ensure timely and efficient operations.
- Maintain inventory of dental supplies and order materials as needed.
- Provide a friendly and calming presence for patients, particularly those with dental anxiety.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and regulatory standards in the dental practice.
Dental Assistant Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional dental assistant certification or training is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or similar role in a dental practice.
- Knowledge of dental instruments, procedures, and sterilization protocols.
- Proficiency in using dental software and electronic health records.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a high standard of patient care.
- Current CPR certification and understanding of basic first aid.
