Duties and Responsibilities

  • Edit and assemble recorded raw material into a suitable, finished product ready for broadcasting. The material may include camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics and special effects.
  • Collaborate with directors, producers and other team members to understand project needs, review scripts, and create a vision for the videos.
  • Ensure the logical sequencing and smooth running of all video content.
  • Support the team in making necessary adjustments to the videos based on feedback from stakeholders.
  • Utilize state-of-the-art editing software and equipment to enhance video content.
  • Manage and oversee all technical aspects of editing, including digital workflows.
  • Maintain continuity while moving shots according to scene value.
  • Experiment with styles and techniques, including the design of graphic elements.
  • Suggest or select music and add necessary sound effects to the video when required.
  • Ensure all projects are edited on time to meet release deadlines.
  • Maintain organization and manage video library ensuring all media is stored appropriately and archives are maintained effectively.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and new software that could enhance production quality.
  • Collaborate effectively with remote team members and participate in video calls for project alignment.
  • Uphold the company’s brand and mission in every aspect of their work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in film studies, cinematography, or related field preferred.
  • Proven work experience as a Video Editor with a strong portfolio of projects.
  • Hands-on experience with editing software, including Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, and After Effects.
  • Excellent understanding of digital technology and editing software packages (e.g. Avid Media Composer, Lightworks, Premiere, After Effects and Final Cut).
  • Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio.
  • Familiarity with special effects, 3D and compositing.
  • Creative mind and storytelling skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, especially with regards to audio-visual aesthetics and content coherence.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
  • Technical skills to handle broadcasting and retrieval of digital footage.
  • Strong organizational skills and proficiency in maintaining archive footage.
  • Adaptability and willingness to keep up with industry trends and tools that will make projects more marketable.
  • Motivation to continuously develop skills and knowledge.
