Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive dental hygiene interventions including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
• Perform oral health assessments on pediatric patients, including risk assessments for caries, periodontal diseases, and other oral health conditions.
• Deliver preventive dental care including but not limited to prophylaxis, fluoride treatments, sealants, and space maintainers.
• Educate patients and their guardians on maintaining optimum oral health and developing good oral hygiene habits.
• Utilize digital radiography and intraoral cameras to assess patient oral health status and needs.
• Collaborate with pediatric dentists to formulate comprehensive patient care plans.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with both the dental team and patient families, ensuring clarity in treatment plans and expectations.
• Adhere strictly to infection control protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment and the sterilization of instruments and workspaces.
• Participate in community outreach programs to promote oral health awareness in the community.
• Manage patient records with accuracy and confidentiality using Dentrix software systems.
• Stay abreast of the latest developments in pediatric dental care through continuing education and professional development opportunities.

Requirements

• Valid Registered Dental Hygienist license in the state of Ohio.
• Current CPR certification.
• Completion of a Hepatitis B vaccine series.
• Demonstrated experience with dental practice management software.
• Proven ability to handle pediatric dental emergencies with patience and expertise.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with young patients and their parents.
