Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical Neuro (Night Shift)

• Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
• Schedule: 3x12-Hour Night Shifts (18:45–07:15) | Every Other Weekend 

Unit Overview

Join this Neuroscience Unit, specializing in neuro-medical surgical care. This 55-bed unit supports adult and geriatric patients with complex neurological diagnoses such as:

• Ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes (SAH, ICH)
• Seizure disorders & epilepsy
• Subdural hematomas and brain tumors
• Craniotomy and spinal cord injuries
• Traumatic brain injury (TBI) & substance withdrawal

Features include a 4-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) with intermediate-level care ratios of 4:1.

✅ Required Qualifications

•  Minimum Experience: 2 years total RN experience (1 year Med Surg required)
•  Travel Experience: 1 year minimum; 2 years preferred
•  Certifications: BLS, NIHSS | ACLS preferred
• ⚕️ Skills:
  • IV therapy & phlebotomy
  • Central, PICC, and peripheral line care
  • Blood product administration
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation & emergency response
  • Isolation precautions
  • Cardiac & vasoactive drips (no titration)
  • Non-invasive respiratory management

⭐ Preferred Skills

• Neuro Stepdown or PCU experience
• Feeding tube & HFNC care
• Care for CVA, craniotomy, seizure disorders, TBI
• Familiarity with PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR systems

Float & Scheduling Info

• Patient Ratios: 1:6 (Days, Nights, Weekends)
• Float Requirement: Yes — includes Med Surg/Tele and potential COVID units
• RTO: Max 7 days, makeup required if weekends are missed
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Scrubs: Navy
• EKG test must be passed prior to start
