The selected candidate will play a crucial role in our logistics operations, primarily focused on the efficient and safe transport of roll-off dumpsters.

Job Description

As a Roll-Off Truck Driver at Texas Gulf Recycling, you will be essential to our team's success by ensuring the timely and safe delivery of roll-off dumpsters to customer sites. This position requires a high level of responsibility and a strong commitment to safety protocols. You will collaborate closely with recycling facility staff and dispatchers to efficiently coordinate the movement and transportation of material trailers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Exhibit a strong and continuous focus on safety and participate in daily safety meetings.
  • Perform pre and post-trip inspections on trucks daily and actively engage in troubleshooting issues in collaboration with mechanics as needed.
  • Safely deliver, swap, and pick up roll-off dumpsters from customer sites and manage time effectively to meet customer needs.
  • Securely tarp each full dumpster to ensure safe transport to disposal or processing sites.
  • Identify types of materials in dumpsters, such as MSW (Municipal Solid Waste) and C&D (Construction and Demolition debris), and handle them accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records of truck maintenance and repairs, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date.
  • Plan and schedule regular maintenance on trucks to minimize downtime and maintain operational readiness.
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Effectively communicate with dispatchers and scale house personnel to determine the appropriate disposal locations.
  • Work collaboratively with management to continuously improve truck efficiency and transportation processes.
  • Monitor the condition of vehicles and report any unsatisfactory conditions as per company and departmental protocols.
  • Adhere to company policies, rules, and safety standards without taking inappropriate risks.
  • Undertake additional job-related duties as directed by the management team.

Requirements

  • Hold an active Class A CDL license with a current DOT physical certification.
  • Possess a strong knowledge of safety standards and DOT laws to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Demonstrate a strong mechanical aptitude; capable of performing minor repairs on trucks and containers.
  • Have a basic understanding of mathematics and the ability to perform precise measurements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to follow instructions, provide feedback, and adapt to feedback from management.
  • Commit to a 5-day work week and withstand extreme weather conditions typical to Texas, including heat, cold, and wetness.
  • Wear company-provided uniforms and use the safety shoe allowance as per company standards.
  • Show a high level of responsibility, dedication to meeting work schedules, and addressing challenges as they arise.
  • Exhibit outstanding customer service skills, aiming to exceed customer expectations every time.
