Job Description

Texas Gulf Recycling is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Operator / Truck Driver to join our dynamic team. This full-time position is crucial for the operations of our waste and recycling facility, ensuring efficient handling and transportation of materials. The role offers a competitive salary range of $23 - $26 per hour, with housing options available for those who are relocating or require on-site accommodation.

This position is not remote and requires dedicated on-site attendance. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment, driving trucks, and contributing to the overall operation and maintenance of our facility.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in morning safety meetings, discussing daily tasks, achievements, challenges, and ongoing project statuses.
  • Communicate frequently using two-way radios to ensure seamless operations and safety.
  • Complete tasks collaboratively with assigned partners, ensuring accountability for both individual and partner's tasks.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections daily on all operating equipment.
  • Troubleshoot issues with equipment that fails inspections, coordinating with mechanics for unresolved issues.
  • Keep waste and other debris organized into piles for easy loading into trailers or grinders (Loader or skid steer operators).
  • Load waste and other debris into trailers or grinders for transport or processing (Excavator operators).
  • Sort and identify specific commodities such as recyclable metals, wood, concrete, tires, and cardboard.
  • Schedule regular maintenance for all equipment, informing mechanics of upcoming services.
  • Log and maintain records of equipment maintenance and repairs, ensuring all logs are current.
  • Report all equipment issues and breakages on the repair board and to the Mechanic.

Requirements

  • Solid experience in operating heavy equipment and driving trucks within a regulated facility.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively without continuous supervision.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
  • Keen attention to detail and robust problem-solving abilities.
  • Competence in maintaining detailed logs and records.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and efficient operations.
  • Must uphold the responsibility of daily attendance and punctuality in alignment with scheduled work shifts.

Additional qualifications:

  • Routine equipment servicing at 500-hour intervals, including oil changes and filter replacements.
  • Major gear and fluid changes at 1,500-hour intervals.
