Folsom Family Dentistry, a private woman-owned dental practice, is excited to announce a job opening for a dedicated and professional Dental Hygienist, starting Summer 2026. This position presents an incredible opportunity for a talented individual to join a team of dental professionals committed to delivering the highest level of patient care. The role is based in our well-equipped and friendly office, providing a nurturing environment for both staff and patients.

We are seeking to employ a Dental Hygienist on a Full-Time basis. This is an onsite role, offering hands-on experience in a dynamic and supportive setting. The right candidate will play a pivotal role in our mission to promote oral health, focusing on preventive care and patient education.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Screening patients during checkups to assess oral health conditions and risk of periodontal disease.
  • Reviewing a patient's dental and medical histories to ensure safe and individualized care.
  • Recommending oral hygiene techniques to patients, tailoring advice according to individual needs and treatment plans.
  • Performing adult or child prophylaxis cleaning, meticulously removing plaque and calculus to prevent dental issues.
  • Scaling and root planing and periodontal maintenance to treat patients with periodontal disease, ensuring thorough care.
  • Administration of local anesthetic for cleanings as needed, delivering a pain-free patient experience.
  • Administration of nitrous oxide inhalation for anxiety and pain control, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Applying preventive varnishes such as fluoride or hydroxyapatite to aid in the strengthening of teeth.
  • Taking x-rays and reviewing them to identify any signs of periodontal disease, contributing to accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans.
  • Grading and staging of periodontal disease using established clinical guidelines, informing appropriate treatment approaches.

Requirements

  • Current/Active Colorado Dental Hygiene License required.
  • Must possess valid CPR certification to address any patient emergencies. We can also offer free class opportunities if needed.
  • Qualified to administer nitrous oxide and local dental anesthetic, adhering to legal and safety standards.
  • Availability to commit to a full-time schedule, ensuring consistent care and attention to patient needs.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective interaction with patients and team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage both administrative responsibilities and direct patient care efficiently.
  • Keen attention to detail and dedication to advancing patient health through commendable dental practices.
  • Proven experience in dental hygiene, with a strong foundation in both preventive and diagnostic services.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with advancements in dental techniques and technology.
  • The ideal candidate is laser certified (LBR, Curettage), but there are CE opportunities to learn these skills once employed.
