Location: On-site (Redmond / Greater Seattle Area, WA) Employment Type: Full-Time Compensation: $26.00 – $36.00 per hour DOE

Role Overview

We’re looking for a highly skilled Senior Irrigation Technician / Lead to join Washington Landscaping, a division of United Services Northwest.

This is a senior-level role for someone who can diagnose complex irrigation systems, lead installations and repairs, and guide team members in the field. You’ll be the go-to expert for troubleshooting, system optimization, and ensuring high-quality irrigation work across residential and commercial properties.

Key Responsibilities

Advanced Irrigation Diagnostics & Repair

  • Diagnose and repair complex hydraulic and electrical irrigation issues
  • Work with two-wire systems, valves, controllers, and flow sensors
  • Troubleshoot low-voltage wiring and system failures

System Optimization & Upgrades

  • Perform irrigation audits and improve system efficiency
  • Install and configure smart irrigation systems and controllers
  • Implement water-saving strategies and system upgrades

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Lead irrigation installation, repair, and upgrade projects
  • Read and interpret site plans, schematics, and as-built drawings
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and to company standards

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Train and mentor junior technicians
  • Provide guidance on troubleshooting, safety, and best practices
  • Lead by example with hands-on field work

Client Communication & Coordination

  • Communicate technical issues and solutions clearly to customers
  • Provide recommendations for system improvements and longevity
  • Coordinate with management on project progress and needs

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in irrigation installation and service
  • Strong expertise in irrigation systems, hydraulics, and electrical troubleshooting
  • Experience with smart irrigation controllers (Hydrawise, Rain Bird, WeatherTRAK, etc.)
  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and site plans
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Strong problem-solving and independent decision-making skills
  • Reliable, organized, and able to lead in the field

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

  • CIT (Certified Irrigation Technician) or CUA certification
  • Backflow certification
  • Experience with pump systems and outdoor lighting
  • Experience operating equipment (trenchers, skid steers, vibratory plows)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
