Executive Director/Administrator

Salary Range:  $200000.00 - $210000.00 year

The Executive Director/Administrator is responsible for the overall direction of the day to day operations of the hospice services.  He/she is responsible for the employment of qualified hospice personnel; is responsible for the provision of hospice services, directly, and the delegation to and coordination of hospice personnel evaluations; is responsible for establishing standards of care to comply with federal and state regulations and guidelines.   The Executive Director/Administrator establishes, implements and evaluates goals and objectives for hospice services that meet and promote the standards of quality and contribute to the total organization and philosophy.

 Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities 

 Operational planning and budgeting.

 Ensuring organizational compliance with legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements.                            

 

  1. Assuring that all business conduct is above minimum standards required by law and will not condone any activities that achieve results through violation of the law, unethical business or patient care practices.

 

  1. Monitoring business operations to insure financial stability.                               

 

  1. Evaluating hospice services and personnel using measurable outcomes and objectives.                          

 

  1. Conflict and complaint management and resolution.

 

  1. Establishing and maintaining effective, open channels of communication including integration or technology, as applicable.  Fosters a no-blame culture that encourages reporting of safety and quality of services issues.

 

  1. Ensuring hospice personnel stay current with clinical information and practices.                                        

      1. Ensuring adequate and appropriate staffing.                                                                     

 

  1. Staff development including orientation, in service, continuing education, competency testing and quality assessment performance improvement.

 

  1. Ensuring that interdisciplinary care is provided.                                                                                            

 

  1. Ensuring supportive services are available to personnel.   The Executive Director or qualified alternate shall be available on the premises or by telecommunication during normal business hours.     

 

  1. Ensuring coordination with other departments, services and senior management, as appropriate.  

 

Executive Director/Administrator

 

  1. Ensuring staff and organization stay current on national/local hospice issues and trends.

 

  1. Ensuring that appropriate service policies and procedures are developed and implemented to accomplish identified outcomes.

 

  1. Directing staff in performance of their duties including admission, discharge, transfer, revocation, and provision of service to patients.

 

  1. Ensuring appropriate staff supervision during all service hours.

 

  1. Monitoring service utilization to ensure delivery of comprehensive care.

 

  1. Ensuring services provided by other agencies are authorized by hospice.

 

  1. Monitoring operational progress toward accomplishing operational and strategic goals.  

 

  1. Ensuring appropriate data collection and regular, complete reports are received by the Governing Body.

 

  1. Ensuring adequate space, equipment and supplies are available.

 

  1. Ensuring actionable objectives are derived from evaluation of hospice services and personnel.

 

  1. Ensuring that structure and systems promote interdisciplinary care

 

  1. Ensuring collaboration with agencies and vendors for effective management of services.

 

  1. Ensuring standards of ethical business and clinical practice are maintained

 Position Qualifications 

Required:

  1. An undergraduate degree in healthcare or related field, or business field  
  2. Minimum 1 year experience managing or supervising in a related field (healthcare preferred).
  3. Has an ability to deal tactfully with the community.
  4. Has knowledge of corporate business management.    
  5. Understands hospice care and the services provided to patient and family/caregiver through an interdisciplinary group.   
  6. Intimate knowledge of Medicare Hospice Certification.
  7. Demonstrates an ability to supervise and direct professional and administrative personnel.   

   

Job Title/Position: Executive Director/Administrator

  Preferred:

  1. A Registered Nurse with an unencumbered license who meets the qualifications of a Director of Patient Care Services.
  2. A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Master’s Degree in health care or related field preferred.  Three to five years experience in health care management.
